Description

Andro

A cultural village showcasing traditional Manipuri houses and pottery. The Andro Gramshang Museum preserves artifacts of tribal culture, and the village has a beautiful cultural complex that attracts visitors.

Bishnupur

Known for the ancient Vishnu Temple built in the 15th century, Bishnupur has cultural and historical significance. The area is known for its terracotta temples and traditional Manipuri art forms.

Imphal

The capital city, Imphal, is known for its historical sites and markets. Key attractions include the Kangla Fort, a symbol of Manipuri heritage, and the Ima Keithel (Mother's Market), one of the largest women-run markets in Asia.

Keibul Lamjao National Park

Located on Loktak Lake, this is the world’s only floating national park, where you can spot the rare Sangai deer in its natural habitat.

Khongjom

A historical site where the last battle of independence against the British was fought by Manipuri soldiers in 1891. The Khongjom War Memorial commemorates this event.

Loktak Lake

This freshwater lake is famous for its phumdis (floating islands) and is home to the unique Keibul Lamjao National Park, which shelters the endangered Sangai deer. Visitors can take boat rides to see the phumdis up close.

Moirang

Known for its cultural significance and historical sites related to the Indian National Army, Moirang is also close to Loktak Lake. The Indian National Army Museum here showcases artifacts from World War II.

Tamenglong

Known for its rugged hills, caves, and waterfalls. Key spots include Barak Waterfalls, Zeilad Lake, and Tharon Cave. This district is ideal for trekking and adventure activities.

Thoubal

A district known for its green paddy fields and the Thoubal River. It is a quiet getaway and offers good spots for picnics and short hikes.

Ukhrul

Known for its scenic landscapes, Ukhrul is home to the rare Shirui Lily, which blooms on the Shirui Hill during summer. The town offers a serene atmosphere and is ideal for nature lovers and trekkers.
