Description

Bamboo trek

The Bamboo Trek is a walkway made of bamboo and wood, built along the slopes and ridges of the East Khasi Hills. It is located near Mawryngkhang in Wahkhen village and involves a challenging trek with narrow bamboo bridges and ladders supported by ropes. The trek offers views of deep valleys, river gorges, and dense forests. It leads to a rock formation known as U Mawryngkhang. The trek requires moderate fitness and is best visited during dry months for safety. Local guides are available for assistance.

Cherrapunji

Famous for heavy rainfall, stunning waterfalls like Nohkalikai and the living root bridges, and scenic views. Alternate name: Sohra.

Dawki

Dawki is a town in Meghalaya near the India-Bangladesh border, known for the Umngot River. The river is clear, and boat rides are a popular activity. The Dawki-Tamabil border crossing connects India and Bangladesh. The town is accessible by road from Shillong. The best time to visit is during winter and early summer when the water remains clear. Nearby attractions include Shnongpdeng, where adventure activities like kayaking and camping are available.
